CALL TO ACTION: Greetings from the Tummy Temple in Seattle WA, provider of colon hydrotherapy! I am writing to you today to gain your immediate support in saving the colon hydrotherapy industry in WA State. A public summary of the recent Sunrise Review on Colon Hydrotherapy by the Department of Health limits colon hydrotherapy to be administered only by a medical doctor, naturopathic doctor or osteopathic doctor. The public comment and rebuttal period is open
until the end of the business day of January 21. PLEASE USE YOUR VOICE TO TURN THIS RULING AROUND. This will only take you one minute but will affect the lives of practitioners of colon hydrotherapy and their clients for years to come. If we do not make enough noise over the next couple of weeks, then the summary from the DOH becomes a public statement on their policy and they can take action against businesses like the Tummy Temple PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING THINGS TO BE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY TO HELP US SAVE THIS INDUSTRY. 1. Respond to the DOH in writing as directed below 2. Call your representatives and alert them to your opinion as directed below These are the only two things that will make a difference in this situation. Please follow through with both actions immediately. Do not be intimidated or apathetic here. They are people just like you and I and they need to hear your concern. Thank you, Kristi McKinney Zimmer Co-Owner of Tummy Temple PROUD Colon Hydrotherapist ********************************************************************* EMAIL A LETTER IMMEDIATELY
Step 1: Construct a letter stating the following: - You are opposed to the DOH’s position on colon hydrotherapy. You can read full details on their position at http://www.doh.wa.gov/hsqa/sunrise/2007/colon_hydro_sunrise_draft.doc and comment to them specifically or use a blanket statement.
- Your belief in the safety of colon hydrotherapy for citizens of WA State. Again, a blanket statement is fine here.
- Your positive, personal experience of colon hydrotherapy including your usage of the therapy. Again, blanket statements of your use are fine here. “I use it and love it.”
- Your professional experience as a colon hydrotherapist or referring to a colon hydrotherapist. If you are a colon hydrotherapist then you can list your professional training, years of experience, and a statement that PRACTICING COLON HYDROTHERAPY DOES NOT EQUAL PRACTICING MEDICINE. If you refer to colon hydrotherapy, then you can express your need for the therapy and its usefulness.
- Your CLEAR request to continue to obtain this therapy from current practitioners and not solely physicians. If you are a practicing colon hydrotherapist, then clearly state your request to continue practicing as well as obtaining the service.
- Your request for passing our Bill, H3505, to regulate colon hydrotherapy in WA State.
See sample letters that you can cut and paste below. Step 2: Email the letter to the DOH (Department of Health) at

To Whom It May Concern within the DOH and WA State Legislation Committees: I am adamantly opposed to the DOH’s position on colon hydrotherapy as presented in their summary of the Sunrise Review. I believe colon hydrotherapy is totally safe and beneficial for the citizens of WA State. I have used colon hydrotherapy as a wellness tool for 2 years. I find it to be beneficial and noninvasive. I do not agree that performing colon hydrotherapy equals practicing medicine. I do not believe that it should be delegated solely to physicians. I request that you continue to support WA State citizens in receiving colon hydrotherapy through Bill H3505 and allow practitioners other than physicians to provide these services. Please consider these rebuttal comments as you move forward with regulation of this industry. Tell them that you want colon hydrotherapy to be available by unlicensed practitioners and that you feel it is totally safe.
